In early 2000, the FARAD directors at the three universities took on a new vision: A network of collaborating global FARAD partners in different countries that would provide US FARAD with drug approval data in a format compatible with the US drug database. These partners would also enter into the database pharmacokinetic data of substances unique to their nation’s environment and production practices, as well as serve as a source of local regulatory expertise relative to import and export food safety. This idea immediately drew interests from many countries and the Global FARAD (gFARAD) was started.
